Chrome Web Store image sizes & requirements (2026)
The Chrome Web Store requires a specific set of images at exact pixel dimensions. Uploads that don't match are rejected, so here is the complete, current list — screenshots, the store icon, and the two promotional tiles — with formats and rules.
Every image the store needs
| Asset | Size (px) | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screenshot | 1280×800 or 640×400 | 24-bit PNG (no alpha) or JPEG | At least 1, up to 5. 1280×800 is strongly recommended. |
| Store icon | 128×128 | PNG | Shown on the listing and in search results. |
| Small promo tile | 440×280 | PNG or JPEG (no alpha) | Used across the store; required to be considered for features. |
| Marquee promo tile | 1400×560 | PNG or JPEG (no alpha) | Optional; used for large featured placements. |
Screenshots: the ones that matter most
Screenshots are the single biggest driver of installs, and 1280×800 is the size to use — the larger canvas renders sharply and gives you room for a caption. You can supply up to five; the first two do most of the persuading, so lead with your clearest benefit.
How to capture a 1280×800 screenshot by hand
In Chrome, open DevTools (⌘⌥I / Ctrl+Shift+I), toggle the device toolbar (⌘⇧M / Ctrl+Shift+M), and set a responsive viewport to 1280×800. Open the command menu (⌘⇧P / Ctrl+Shift+P), type “screenshot”, and choose Capture screenshot. That gives you a raw, correctly-sized frame — you then still have to add backgrounds and captions and repeat for every size.
The faster path
Doing all of that by hand, for every asset, is the slow part. Markee collapses it: paste your Chrome Web Store listing URL and it builds every asset above — correctly sized, framed around your real UI, with captions — as a downloadable kit in minutes. Nothing to resize, no validation errors on upload.
